Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What licenses do I need for a fintech product in Kazakhstan?
It depends on the product. Payment services need Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) authorization or registration with the National Payment System. Lending requires a microfinance organization (MFO) license. Crypto activities are regulated by the AIFC. WIZICO Tech architects your system for compliance from day one: encryption, user verification, cryptography and reporting so the platform is ready to meet regulatory requirements. Licensing itself requires specialized legal counsel, and here we recommend engaging a dedicated legal team rather than handling it ourselves. Our role is technical: to design your payment service, e-wallet, mobile banking app or lending platform so that data, audit logs and integrations are audit-ready. We follow a Diagnose → Design → Build → Evolve approach, fixing architecture, timeline and budget before writing any code. The WIZICO team comprises architects and engineers from Freedom, Halyk Market, Bereke Bank, Payme and Prime Source with real banking and fintech experience across Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
How long does fintech MVP take?
Timelines depend on the product type, regulatory requirements and integrations. A mobile banking MVP takes 4–6 months with KYC integration. A payment gateway runs 3–5 months. A lending platform is 4–7 months. Regulatory requirements and external integrations with banks and payment processors shape the schedule. At WIZICO Tech we never quote a final timeline blindly: we first run the Diagnose and Design stages, fix the architecture, scope and budget, and only then give a fixed price and a realistic schedule. This avoids writing code before the project's boundaries are understood. For fintech products we use a proven stack: Go, Java Spring Boot, Node.js, React/Next, Kotlin and Swift for mobile apps, PostgreSQL and Kafka. Our engineers come from Freedom, Halyk Market, Bereke Bank, Altel/Tele2 and Payme and have already launched payment and banking systems, so our estimates rest on real experience rather than guesswork. We are remote-first and serve Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the UAE.
Do you handle PCI-DSS certification?
We architect the system to PCI-DSS standards, but certification itself requires an external QSA (Qualified Security Assessor). On WIZICO Tech's side is the technical preparation of your environment for assessment: card-data tokenization, network segmentation, audit logs, encryption and cryptography, user verification and correct reporting. We build the architecture so that a payment service, e-wallet or mobile banking app can pass review without major rework. The certification itself is issued by an independent QSA — we work alongside them, prepare the environment and documentation, and resolve any findings from the pre-assessment. This split approach saves time: our engineers close the technical requirements while the assessor focuses on the audit. The WIZICO team has real banking and fintech backgrounds — Freedom, Halyk Market, Bereke Bank, Payme, Prime Source — so we understand how security requirements look in practice. We follow Diagnose → Design → Build → Evolve and fix the architecture before development, so security is built into the foundation.
Can you integrate with local Kazakhstan banks?
Yes. We support integrations with major Kazakhstani banks through their API and SFTP channels. We also work with international processors — Stripe, Adyen, Worldpay — and crypto rails on the USDT and USDC stablecoins. This lets us connect a mobile banking app, e-wallet or payment service to the flows you need without locking you into a single provider. We finalize the specific list of integrations after reviewing the project requirements: during the Diagnose and Design stages we map out which banks, processors and rails are needed, how they affect architecture, timeline and budget, and only then start development. Under the hood we use Go, Java Spring Boot, Node.js and Kafka for reliable transaction processing. WIZICO Tech engineers came from Freedom, Halyk Market, Bereke Bank, Payme and Prime Source, so they have already worked with banking and processing APIs in the region. We are remote-first, serve Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the UAE, and are residents of Astana Hub and IT Park Uzbekistan.
Native iOS/Android or React Native for banking apps?
The choice depends on the product's requirements. For most fintech apps React Native works well: the same UX on iOS and Android, faster time to market and lower development cost. We go native (Kotlin for Android, Swift for iOS) when you need deep hardware features — biometrics, NFC payments, secure enclave — or strict performance requirements, such as high-frequency trading apps. At WIZICO Tech we do not impose a technology upfront: during the Diagnose and Design stages we examine the use cases, security needs and load profile, then select the stack for your specific product — mobile banking, e-wallet or payment app. We fix the architecture, timeline and budget before development begins, so the choice between React Native and native is justified rather than made blindly. Our mobile engineers, with experience from Freedom, Halyk Market, Bereke Bank and Payme, have built banking and payment apps, so they know where a cross-platform approach saves resources and where native is genuinely required.
